Manual Therapy Should Not Be Painful #GetPT1st

Many clinicians and patients are under the assumption that if something is tight and/or painful, that the corresponding hands on techniques used to improve one or either also have to be painful.

This is false, see below for why.

Manual Therapy Should NOT Be Painful

Hands on techniques DO NOT break up trigger points, scar tissue, stretch muscle or fascia. They improve mobility and change the perception of movement to feel better without pain or tightness. Since they do not have mechanical changes, there is NO reason for someone to be aggressive to the point of pain, tenderness, discoloration or bruising. #GetPT1st
